I received a postcard in the mail the other day. It was from a real estate agent that had recently sold a house in my neighborhood. Besides his sales pitch on why I should list my house with him and his contact information, there was one image. He was in a Tommy Bahama shirt, khakis and boat shoes with the beach behind him. And, in seconds, I decided I would never consider listing my house with him. Why make such a rash decision? Well, his image spoke to me in more ways than he anticipated. When and if I ever do plan on selling my house, I want a real estate agent that won’t rest until I get top dollar for my house. I want someone who won’t sleep until they sell my house. But, that one image of the Tommy Bahama guy told me the opposite. He’s easy going, chill, likes to work at his own pace, and he’ll market in between his fishing trips and surfing competitions. I’m sure, he may be hard working and can get the job done. But, I won’t take the chance with my house.
