Every wedding is perfect in their own special way. I usually can think back on weddings we photographed 5 years ago and can recollect a moment or even a detail that for one reason or another stood out for me. Amanda and Mark’s wedding was full of these moments and full of these little details. The wedding (although was 200 guests and was at the Four Seasons) had a sense of intimacy. As if it was a small town girl marrying her childhood sweetheart in the backyard of her parents’ home. Not sure if it is making sense but I don’t know how else to explain it. Amanda and Mark are New Yorkers but are so grounded and so organic. Because it was a destination wedding, I only had Skyped and spoken to them on the phone and just by that alone the entire year I was anxious for their wedding. I just loved this couples’ energy and I had a good feeling about them. Well, of course, I was right, as usual! This couple seranaded their guests with a song they sang and the best part is Mark played the ukallayly. I mean seriously you have to be one cool cat to pull this off, and he was, and she was, and it was perfect! Another moment that I will remember happened during the getting ready in Amanda’s room. She had been cool and collected the whole day until she sat in a room by herself and started to read the card Mark had written to her. After two sentences there were sniffles and then came tears and then giggles and mid way into the card there were sniffles, tears, and giggles. She had such a hard time reading the whole card and the emotion that came out of her was so raw and so so so sweet. I have photographed many weddings but have never seen so much honest and real love displayed before this moment. And as it was happening and I was photographing, the videographer was rolling, and I thought to myself… moments like this are so precious and thank god she was smart enough to hire a photographer and videographer! So, like I mentioned I can probably go on and on about this wedding but I think I’ll shut up now and let the pictures do the talking!
